Jonathan Grimshaw was apparently born in 1773, and Betsey Willoby was born in 1782, both in Pennsylvania. Jonathan and Betsey appear to have met and married in Washington County, and they subsequently lived in Beaver County (1820 Census, 1825 tax record, 1830 Census) and Carroll County in easterm Ohio (1840 Census). They were married in 1802 and had at least one child, Richard Grimshaw, who migrated to Scioto County, Ohio. There is one record that indicates that Richard may have had a brother, Benjamin, who was also in Scioto County.

Richard and Nancy (Rickett) Grimshaw are the subject of a companion webpage. Several of Richard and Nancy's children in turn migrated to Missouri from Ohio, as described on another companion webpage. Jonathan Grimshaw is almost certainly somehow connected to the Grimshaw family line that settled in northwestern Pennsylvania, near Erie, as described on another companion webpage, but the exact nature of the connection has not yet been established.

Nancy Ann Rickett's parents were John Richard Rickett and Sarah Clark. John Richard was born in 1783 in Washington Co., Pa. He died in September 1832 in Carroll Co., Oh. He married Sarah Clark in 1803 in Washington Co., Pa. She was born in 1783 in West Bethlehem Twp., Washington Co., Pa. They had 14 children. John Richard's parents were Casper or Gasper Rickett and Dorothea Charity Friend. Casper (Gasper) was born in 1750 in Germany . He died December 28, 1828 in Bethlehem , Washington Co. , Pa. He married Dorothea in 1776. She was born in 1758 in Frederick Co., Md. She died in 1830 in Washington Co., Pa. They had 11 children.

A small point, but there must be a mistake in the death date provided in your post.

Gasper could not have died on 28 December 1828 , because his will had been proved five days earlier.... or at least Dec. 23 is the date shown in the Clossons' book of Abstracts of Washington County wills (p. 350).

I am not related to Gasper, so far as I know, but he was a very close neighbor and quite near contemporary of my 3rd great grandfather Christian Hufford, Jr.. The fact that Christian Hufford had a younger brother Casper suggests at least a slight chance of a family relationship of some kind.

Do you happen to know whether Gasper Rickett lived somewhere east of the mountains after coming over from Germany and before locating in W. Bethlehem Township?

John Grimshaw was between 26 and 45 years old. He was living with a female also between 26 and 45 (presumably his wife) and two females (presumably daughters) less than seven years old. This family is believed to be Jonathan and Betsey (Willoby) Grimshaw, who are described on a companion webpage.
